The Spyway Inn, Askerswell

Nestled deep in the Dorset countryside on the old Spyway road towards Eggardon Hill sits The Spyway Inn. Parts of this historic property are thought to date back some 500 years and have an association with Dorset's smuggling past and the notorious pirate made good, Sir Isaac Gulliver.

Today, The Spyway has a selection of real ales, home-cooked food, and an impressive view of West Dorset from the back garden.

Our relationship with the owners began in 2019. in March 2020 just weeks before the beginning of the global Covid pandemic we were invited to work with the team to conduct an initial period of historical and paranormal research which we carried out. We were due to resume our research after the pandemic, but sadly because of unforeseen Covid related circumstances and a change of ownership at the inn, this opportunity never came about.

Our findings to date from the initial research are available on request.

Thank you to our original hosts for their warm hospitality. We hope to return to The Spyway in the future and pick up where our research left off. Contact us to find out more about this report.
